My Travels in Australia

Sunset in Joondalup

It got relatively cooler today, and it's supposed to be around 15 all weekend. It's definitely helping get the inside temperature of my room to something that doesn't feel overly hot haha.

This is one of the main parts of our sculpture garden on campus - although this is more like part of a sculpture pond. It's actually kind of cool, because they didn't want to put anything into the pond that would have to have concrete and all sorts of stuff so it actually floats and isn't attached. The small waves from the fountain seem to keep it in place now. It has little solar panels and during the day it cycles through various haikus and says them - you have to get fairly close along a little path to hear them though.

Tomorrow we're heading out to a different research site to plant in some dried up wetlands. They needed to plant stuff in them, so we figure we might as well do it when there's no water!

And finally...lorikeets! I've actually found that the red/orange/yellow under their neck is much more orange/yellow here than it is red like Squirt (but they still have bright red under their wings). But they're still pretty easily noticeable flying around!
