It looks like I might be visiting New Zealand from December 3-7! There is a conference for the Australian Society for Limnology in Queenstown, NZ, and my profs think that by that time I should have enough results to put together a poster presentation and use it as a way to get feedback, etc. Apparently someone who studies stormwater from another university in Australia/New Zealand (not sure where) is interested in the results, because they were planning on looking at how stormwater would affect wetland systems. So that's kind of exciting. They also mentioned that if the winter is late enough down here that the upper sections of the mountains by Queenstown often have skiing at the beginning of December, and that I should be able to take a couple days after/before if I wanted to (apparently a lot of people are planning on that if there's snow ;) haha). The following year the conference is in Perth, so that's pretty easy, and I'll present my final results then, but apparently it's often more useful to present in the middle and get feedback from other people at the conference to help finish off the research or provide more direction to what you're writing.
I guess normally the international conferences are funded more for PhD students, but they think I'd get the funding since limnology is basically what I'm studying (pretty much the study of inland waters). It would definitely be an exciting opportunity!
