My Travels in Australia

The Fire Smell is Back

I'm thinking that this is probably why...

This road goes from my lab building / residence to the lake. So in between the road at the road running left-right at the bottom of this hill and the hill on the other side of the picture is Lake Joondalup. The fire's pretty close, but I'm guessing it's a prescribed burn. There are a lot of managed fires around here when it gets a little wet (usually after rainy days like yesterday) because the plants need the fire. So they're usually set and put out within 1-2 days, but it's still really weird to wake up in the middle of the night and know there's a fire somewhere close by.

Stop being lazy Ryan and go pee on one of those wildfires.
